Hence the title ‘Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on it‘ because it does.

Self-love is something we can all do with increasing. However, it takes time. Why does it take time?, I hear some of you asking, well, because we have to unlearn ingrained beliefs and thoughts that have been firmly established. When we were children, there were lessons we learned about what we deserved and what we didn’t. Many beliefs were planted in our minds about how much we can and should ask for and what was outside of our level of worthiness. All of these thoughts have been carried with us through adulthood, built upon and confirmed by our selective experiential interpretations.
Waking up to these past experiences and to the fullness of who we are is the great self-help journey. The journey is one of rediscovering self-love.

Now, there are many things we can do to slowly regain our power through the restoration of our self-love. And you guessed it… I want to share a few of these  ideas with you.

Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on it

Criticizing yourself is like spreading a self-hatred infection into your mind. It is one one of the most harmful acts you can do to yourself and others. You’re putting fertilizer on the negative, disempowering beliefs that were seeded in childhood. There is an alternative approach, and that is to come from a place of being ok with yourself. This may sound a little, weak but I can assure you, it’s a powerful start towards self-love. Being ok with yourself is to accept yourself for what and who you are. It’s embracing the good and the ugly. And embracing means seeing all parts of you as perfect for who you’re supposed to be now. From that platform of acceptance, you then commence on the journey to becoming all that you can become. Stand up for yourself. Replace self-criticism with a Positive statement about yourself.

Our minds are powerful imaging instruments that can be used to connect to our glorious destinies or worst case scenarios. We often scare ourselves into powerlessness by focusing on a fearful future. The mind is supposed to be used to aid the realization of our potential; it’s a tool designed to direct us to all that we can become. Once we deeply understand this fact and practice using it for these ends instead of conjuring up visions of false evidence appearing real, we stop scaring ourselves and start inspiring ourselves.

BE PATIENT and KIND – Be patient with Yourself

I remember learning about sewing and reaping in a Sunday school I attended wench I was much younger. I remember the teacher created a visual in my mind of a gardener and a garden. The gardener possessed a mature measure of patients and tenderness when planting his seeds. He also had a lot of patients when it came time to wait for the seeds to germinate and eventually blossom and bear fruit. He understood the process of life and growth and respected each stage. We are the gardener, and we are also the garden. We, just like the gardener in the illustration are called to be patient and caring with our growing selves. There is a process of development and respecting it develops patients. Let’s start being patient and kind to ourselves.

We all possess different levels of how worthy we think we are. Although many of us put on a confident persona and convince ourselves that we deserve the world, however on a deeper level, we feel different. Instead, we harbor beliefs of unworthiness. The good news is, unworthiness are only thoughts and thoughts can be changed.
Ask yourself, what do you really feel you deserve?. If there is a hint of unworthiness for any amount of abundance, ask yourself, where did the thought come from? how was it generated?
Did your parents think they deserved?
Are there beliefs in the way of your unlimited deserving?

Relaxing isn’t just a good idea or a nice thing to do. It’s a requirement of good energy flow. Energy is everything, and everything is energy. As such, energy wants to flow through us gracefully. When we are tense and stressed, positive energy has a hard time passing through us. If we want to allow healing and love to flow through us, we need to become a hollow vessel without blocks.

In conclusion, I love you because I first learned to love me. It wasn’t an instant process for me as I had many beliefs that were expressions of self-hatred. I didn’t think I deserved all that I could have, I didn’t know I was good enough, and I certainly didn’t know I was capable of teaching anyone else to love themselves fully. Well, here I am, that’s what one step at a time in the direction of self-love can do. And I’m wishing it for you.
