He needs no introduction, however I can't help but to pay my respects to a great teacher, life coach and simply... a nice guy. After studying his framework and fusing it with many other influences, I love to give honour where honour is due. I wanted to share 10 of his favourite life secrets and tips with you.

This is one of big 'T's' (Mr Tony Robbins to you:)) favourite life secrets and tips, a question he loves to ask. This question helps to ground your perspective and re-focus your thoughts. You see, when you trade your expectations for appreciations you get into an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is apowerful, it reframes and clarifies.

Once this becomes a general feeling and perspective in our lives, we will consistently be immersed in a feeling of being full and wealthy regardless of our external circumstance.

2. Where focus goes your energy flows

Tony is excellent at interrupting a clients attention and guiding it to where it’s most productive. This is a major of big T's life secrets and tips, if we start applying it to our lives. It’s based on a fundamental principle, whatever we focus our attention on, we attract more of the same. If we focus of a negative part of a problem, usually the problem gets worse instead of better. The negative part of the situation fuels responses, restricts creativity and solution abilities and triggers low vibrating moods in us and everyone we come into contact with. However, when we start to focus on the positive side of things, it triggers higher vibrating moods, creative thought processes and generates attitudes that promote progression.

3. RPM

The to-do-list, is a great tool for increasing productivity. However, Tony’s RPM system increases things further. I discovered the RPM plan (results-focused, purpose-driven, massive action plan). This planning method and way of thinking allows you to increase your results and productivity up to 10 times each week. It works because It gets you thinking about your result and purpose beforehand. You are then energised and motivated to do the required tasks with a new found purpose, meaning and expectation. He himself states that this is one of his most powerful life secrets and tips that can turn your whole around.

4. The 2 mm success change

In soccer, the difference between scoring and missing a goal can be within 2 mm. It’s often the difference between hitting the sweet spot on the ball rather than slightly too much to one side making the ball hit the crossbar. The same metaphor can be applied to our relationship interactions, health rituals, and business choices. For example, maybe you get greater conversions from your sales copies when you replace and enhance the company benefits. Or maybe you feel more connected with the people you have relationships with when you decide to greet them with an increased genuine smile. Or maybe you introduce a new natural suppliment in your daily routine and this magnifies your energy levels.

5. the Physiology triad

Tony often makes a point of observing someones physiology as he knows the dramatic changes it makes to our mood.
During moments of fear, worry, depression, sadness and concern, our physical posture changes.

If you’re standing tall with your chest out, shoulders back, chin up and your fists in the air while you’re focused on an awesome victory and you’re shouting with total joy and pride “I am a champion!” then you will feel like a victorious champ.
If you’re sitting down with your shoulders slumped, your chin down to your chest with your head leaning forward while you’re focusing on how you’ve failed once again and your thinking, “Why am I such a failure?” then you’ll feel like a depressed failure.
Guess what? You can influence how you move your body, what you focus on, and the language you use to describe any moment. That means you can directly influence your emotions, and by being aware of your physiology, focus, and language, you can master your habitual emotions over time.

6. The Human needs

  • Tony states that all humans are driven by a combination of 6 base human needs.
  • Certainty—assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure
  • Uncertainty/Variety—the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli
  • Significance—feeling unique, important, special or needed
  • Connection/Love—a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something
  • Growth—an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding
  • Contribution—a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to, and supporting others

One person might meet their needs on a strong level for certainty, variety,
significance, and connection through smoking cigarettes. They can feel certain or comfortable from smoking cigarettes whether it’s a habit they’ve had for a long time or because they can feel like they can relax from having a deep exhale. They can feel variety because smoking a cigarette instantly changes your biochemistry and state. Another person can meet those same needs through daily exercise. They can feel certain that they’ll feel great and energized from exercising. They can experience variety through mixing up workouts, through the biochemical change that takes place in their body, and through training different muscle groups. They can experience significance by being someone who values their body and by having a ripped body. They can experience connection and love for themselves for taking great care of their body and by exercising with others.
Tony said that whenever we have a habit, emotion, or thought that meets at least three of our needs on at least a level of 6 out of 10, then we form an addiction. The fastest way to break an addiction is to replace the addiction with a vehicle that meets the needs or more needs in a better way.

7. Change your story

All of us have stories that make up our world view and the way we see our lives. Most of the time, we tell these stories unconsciously to ourselves and to others through what we say, think and how we act. From the episodes and chapters of when, where and how were grew up to what happened yesterday, we think in stories. The good news is, the stories narrative can be changed, even if the events and circumstances can’t. However, we choose the meaning of everything thats happened and is happening now.

8. Decisions and destiny

“It is your decisions, and not your conditions, that determine your destiny.” ~ Tony Robbins

Do our circumstances define our destiny? - nothing could be further from the truth, Each decision we make leads us to a destination in our lives. There are three decisions we’re always making consciously or subconsciously: what am I going to focus on, what does it mean to me, and what am I going to do about it?
What’s one of the greatest decisions you’ve made in your life? What would your life be like if you didn’t make that decision?

Waking up to the fact that, our decisions affect the direction we move in, so making each one count is key.

9. The past does not equal the future.

My present circumstance has nothing to do with my future experience. Things can change in an instant because I have the power to change my story. I know in my heart of heart that my future does not include chronic illness. In fact, I can see my future self clearly: she’s energetic, free, confident, loving, fun, present and grateful.
What has happened to me today does not influence who I am tomorrow.

 

10. We all get what we tolerate.
