The light bulb of change is finally on.
I now recognize the impact my many beliefs have on my feelings and behavor.
What I Believe about a situation has a direct influence about how I progress within that event. In the same way, what I believe about another person directly and indirectly affects how I relate to that person. Not forgetting, my own beliefs about myself, also influence how I perform in the world.
However, what is also clear is that, if I choose to see a situation differently, I have the power to do so, a powerful life-changing fact.
Beliefs are extremely important and influential when we relate to each other. I see beliefs like equations our perception = meaning (opinion + feeling), these equations are formed within our subconscious and thereafter guiding us through life. Most of these equations have been created and formed without our full consent. They have been other peoples opinions, presented as truth, installed into us from an early age. We’ve built on them as if they were sound foundation ever since.
We now tend to compartmentalize people, places and situations based on these assumptions or equations. The good news is we can change these internal equations and assumptions. Noting that when our equations change about some thing or someone we tend to see it or them differently, better or worse.
Importantly, I realize my beliefs about myself has a direct connection to my level of confidence. Whether I am beginning a new project, attending a social event, or experiencing changes in a personal relationship, how my life progresses is largely influenced by what I think and feel about myself.
This may sound extremely simple, it is!, however the majority of us do not truly live this truth. Becoming mindful about how blessed we are to be able to change our belief about anything, including ourselves, is enormous. When I deeply got this fact, it changed everything.
Understanding I can change whatever my beliefs are, brings a massive level of empowerment. I have the power to change my thoughts, ideas and beliefs about anything. The power is with me and me alone. This ability to shape or form a belief gives me full direction and control over my life. I can create an intention based on my own beliefs and choose to follow that intention through. I can also be both confident about my belief and open to learn new information that may cause me to re-shape my belief – that’s progressive evolution. Living a life on purpose means taking full responsibility for your life at this level of mindful thought forming.
Today, I plan to embrace my power to change my beliefs. I can alter those beliefs that ultimately result in less than ideal situations, relationships, or behavior.
This changes everything!
Three important Self-Reflection Questions:
- Do I really have the power to change what I believe?
- Are there particular assumptions that hinder me?
- How could the happiness in my life increase if I only embraced the fact that I can change my beliefs?
